ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -
Earl Blake Emerson is accused of hitting a
75-year-old man in the head with a baseball bat.
Athens Police Investigators say the victim gave Emerson $20 in gas money to
take Emerson's mother to the store and then give Emerson a ride to the junk
yard. The victim gave Emerson's mother a ride, but was not able to give Emerson
a ride.
According to investigators Emerson wanted to get $10 back from the victim,
since he didn't get his ride.
The victim allegedly told Emerson he did not have $10. That's when, according
to Athens Police, Emerson hit picked up a bat and hit the man in the head.
Officers say Emerson checked the man's wallet and found no money. Emerson is
accused of then taking the bat to the victim's car.
