Authorities are seeking witnesses who saw a hit-and-run driver transporting a crane on Interstate 17 strike the Jefferson Street overpass.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said the overpass was closed for inspection after it was struck Thursday morning.
The Arizona Department of Transportation said the Jefferson Street bridge was significantly damaged after it was hit about 10:45 a.m.
The far two right lanes of southbound I-17 were blocked. ADOT announced Friday that the left lane of Jefferson Street overpass at I-17 will be closed for one month to repair the damage. All freeway lanes are back open.
People who may have seen the incident are asked to call DPS at 602-223-2000.
