DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -
Communication and location are vital pieces of information for our troops serving here and abroad.
Their abilities expanded on Thursday.
A Decatur-built Delta IV rocket launched early Thursday morning from Cape Canaveral, and on board were satellites to improve GPS for the Air Force.
These GPS satellites will join a worldwide timing and navigation system 11,000 miles above the earth.
This launch will not only help our military with GPS but the rest of us who utilize GPS to get around as well.
Commercial rocket company Space X will launch a Dragon space craft this Sunday night on its first official resupply mission to the International Space Station. You can watch the launch live on WAFF.com.
