AUBURN, AL (WBRC) -

Auburn head football coach Gene Chizik apologized for his team's performance on Saturday against the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Tigers saw their fourth loss this season in the 24-7 game.

"Auburn fans and family do not deserve this today," said Chizik. "I apologize to anyone who came to watch it."

Chizik says he thought his team was properly prepared for the game. Auburn was coming off of a bye week and Arkansas has recently come across some troubling losses.

"I felt like we had two good weeks of practice. Today, we did all the things you can't do and win," said Chizik.

The coach cited the team's five turnovers and eight sacks as examples of what the team did wrong. Chizik noted that he felt the defense also started out slow, but had some big 3rd down stops. He also seemed highly disappointed in the offense.

"Offensively, (it was) one of the most poor performances I've seen in a long time," said Chizik.

Chizik says the game was a team loss and that the Auburn football team will get back to work in trying to fix issues.

"There's no excuses and that's as simple as I can put it," said the coach.

Auburn takes to the road next week to play Ole Miss. Kickoff is set for 11:21 a.m.
