FLORENCE, AZ (CBS5) -
A Pinal County spokesman for the sheriff's department resigned amid an internal investigation for misusing county resource.
Sheriff's officials said Elias Johnson was off-duty when he used a company vehicle to go to the scene of a fugitive bust and videotape it without permission.
U.S. Marshals said that at the time they asked Johnson if he was a deputy. Johnson told them who he was but didn't say that he wasn't a sworn officer.
Johnson was at one time, employed as a reporter at CBS 5 News.
