SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

A woman has died after being hit by a vehicle that failed to stop at a red signal on Scottsdale Road, police said.

Sgt. Mark Clark with the Scottsdale Police Department said the victim, Vivian Roth-Sacks, 69, was driving at the intersection of Scottsdale Road and Mescal Street when she was T-boned by a Jeep Liberty, driven by 25-year-old Maren Christensen, about 9:15 a.m.

Roth-Sacks was taken to the hospital where she passed away. Christensen has serious injuries but is expected to survive, according to police.

Clark said the investigation is ongoing.

Scottsdale Road was closed between Shea Boulevard north to Cholla Street while police investigated and was reopened about 1 p.m., according to Bruce Dressel of the Scottsdale Traffic Management Center.
