MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -
The Alabama Department of Public Health has confirmed products from the New England Compounding Company that delivered Meningitis-tainted steroids have been delivered locally.
ADPH says the medicines delivered were not the steroid linked to the Meningitis outbreak, however they were produced at the same center and have been recalled for safety reasons.
Medications produced by the New England Compounding Center were delivered to:
Alabama Outpatient
Surgery Center--Jasper
Alabama Pain
Physicians--Birmingham
Andalusia Regional
Hospital--Andalusia
Birmingham Surgery
Center--Birmingham
Brookwood Medical
Center--Birmingham
Lanier Health
Services--Valley
Medical Center
Enterprise--Enterprise
Mobile Surgery
Center--Mobile
Parkway Medical
Center--Decatur
Southeast Eye
Clinic--Dothan
Clinics, hospitals and healthcare providers that have product which is
being recalled have been advised to stop using the product immediately.
ADPH says none of the contaminated drugs were delivered to Alabama facilities - however, all NECC products are being recalled as a precaution.
Of the seven states affected by the
outbreak, three of them border Alabama. Officials with the Alabama Department
of Public Health say if you received medical care from Georgia, Florida or
Tennessee you should call those facilities to make sure you weren't infected.
