Alabama wins over Missouri, 42-10

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

The Crimson Tide started off strong in their rain-soaked game against Missouri before appearing to coast the rest of the way to the win.

On their first possession, it took Alabama two plays to grab a touchdown. The first play was a 2-yard pass to to Kelly Johnson, but the second was a huge 73-yard Eddie Lacy rush to the endzone. 45 seconds had elapsed on the clock when Jeremy Shelley kicked his first extra point.

The Tide's second touchdown came a few series later on another short drive. The drive began with a 44-yard McCarron pass to Kenny Bell to the Missouri 6-yard line. Eddie Lacy then made two rushes - both for 3 yards - and the second one added the touchdown. Shelley's kick was again good.

On Alabama's next possession, a blocked punt gave them field position to gain another touchdown. Starting at the Missouri 17-yard line, it took three rushes from T.J. Yeldon to score again. Shelley kick put the score at 21-0.

In the second quarter, Alabama put their fourth touchdown on the board. A 4-play drive saw them come from their own 46-yard line to the endzone. T.J. Yeldon wrapped it up with a 15-yard rush for the score. At this point, officials called a delay on the game due to lightning. After 38 minutes, gameplay resumed and Shelley kicked the extra point.

Missouri must have made the most of the rain delay. The kickoff after the delay saw the Tigers' Marcus Murphy return the ball 98-yards for a touchdown against the #1 team in the nation. Andrew Baggett kicked the extra point and put Missouri on the scoreboard at 28-7.

After halftime, Missouri added to their score in the form of a field goal. The Tigers received the kickoff and began a 7-play drive that brought them to the Alabama 23-yard line and facing 4th and 3. Andrew Baggett added the extra point and Missouri's score became 10.

The rest of the third and a large portion of the fourth just became a back-and-forth between the teams. Finally, with around 8 minutes remaining in the game, Alabama returned to the endzone. The 11-play drive covered 41 yards and heavily featured running back Eddie Lacy. Five plays in the drive were rushes by Lacy, including a 1-yard rush for the touchdown. Jeremy Shelley's kick set the score at 35.

Alabama returned for another score with 2:28 remaining in the game. After a 7-play drive, Kenyan Drake rushed 3 yards for the touchdown.Jeremy Shelley added the extra point to bring the score to 42-10. This wrapped up the scoring in the game for the Crimson Tide win.

Next week, Alabama travels to Neyland Stadium to take on Tennessee. At the time of this writing, the kickoff time had not been set.
