MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -
Crews with the Montgomery Fire Department were dispatched to a downtown hotel fire Monday afternoon. At least five fire engines were sent to the State House Inn on Madison Avenue.
Fire Lieutenant Kenneth Jones say there was a fire on the third floor of the complex. That fire was confined to a single room and there were no injuries. The entire building was evacuated during the fire.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
The State House Inn was the subject of a WSFA 12 News report earlier in October in which Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange discussed the possibility of purchasing the property and demolishing it as part of the city's continued downtown revitalization efforts.
