WETUMPKA, AL (WSFA) -
It's story time a Wetumpka Elementary School, but the man reading this book isn't a teacher, at least not anymore. It's Elmore county school superintendent Dr. Jeff Langham. He's had quite a career in education. "In 1985 I was hired at Elmore county high school," Langham said. "I spent 13 years there as a teacher."
During that time he won the Class Act award for the first time. Our own Bob Howell gave him the certificate in 1994. Since then he's been a vice principal, principal, and in January of 2005 he was elected as superintendent in Elmore county.
While he loves leading the school district, he still misses the classroom. "I still miss teaching. The irony about moving up in administration is you get less interaction with the students."
Well all his hard work is paying off. He was recently named Alabama's superintendent of the year. He will be going to California soon for a national competition. "I'm a huge movie buff, so I can't be more excited about going to Los Angeles." Here's hoping for a Hollywood ending for Dr. Jeff Langham, this week's Class Act.
