Paul Finebaum says the idea of Alabama Coach Nick Saban going to Cleveland is laughable.

"I'm trying to remember," Finebaum said Thursday. "Did BamaHammer.com win two Pulitzers for its Watergate coverage? It is the world of Twitter. I'm as guilty. I saw the report. "

Finebaum can joke about the source of the Saban to Cleveland rumors, but the idea of the man with a statue outside Bryant Denny Stadium leaving isn't funny to Tide fans.

"I wouldn't be surprised if Nick Saban's agent Jimmy Sexton isn't just grinning from ear to ear," Finebaum said. "It's not as if Saban needs any more money, but it'll make Alabama fans even more nervous. If you thought we were all concerned about AJ McCarron's torn meniscus the other day, just imagine when that first sourced story says 'so and so dot com says Nick Saban has accepted a job wherever,' they'll be a meltdown of epic proportions."

Saban was the Browns' defensive coordinator in the early 90s and played his college ball at Kent State University, not far from Cleveland. But would he ever trade crimson for orange and brown?

"He stays," Finebaum said. "I wouldn't stake my entire reputation on it, well, considering my reputation, I would stake my entire reputation on it."

Finebaum says he expects to hear even more rumors like this as the season goes on, but he doesn't think any of them will prove true.

As for that sports radio station in Cleveland? The program director told FOX6 News today he's glad for the free publicity, but says they never reported this as fact or even a rumor, it was just speculation by a couple of hosts about who the Browns should be looking at, not who they are looking at.
