CLANTON, AL (WBRC) - Alabama state troopers say a Verbena man was killed early Friday morning when he struck a deer while riding a motorcycle.

Troopers say Richard Alan Coburn, 53, was killed in the crash around 2:30 a.m. just south of Clanton on Chilton County Road 49. Troopers say he hit the deer as it crossed the road.

Coburn was wearing a helmet. The accident is under investigation.
