PELL CITY, AL (WBRC) -
Alabama state troopers are investigating a crash that left a pedestrian dead. It happened shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday morning on Highway 231 near Pell City.
Officials say James Brittain was standing in the road when he was hit by a car driven by Delilah Jackson. Then, three other cars going in the opposite direction also hit Brittain. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
"We came outside and the ambulance and deputies were here. The girl was here and she was crying and all she kept saying was 'he was in the road.' She didn't see him or something, but all she basically kept saying was 'he was in the middle of the road.'"
Jackson was taken by ambulance to St. Vincent's Hospital in Pell City for non-life threatening injuries.
