MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The family who lives there told WSFA 12 News Reporter Tametria Conner that this is a bad situation and they did not want to talk on camera.

But the daughter of the woman watching the toddler confirmed that a two-year-old died under her mother's care.

There is a swimming pool in a back of the house. Police say this is where two-year-old Jedarian McQueen was found unresponsive. He was rushed to Jackson hospital and later pronounced dead.

The daughter of the woman who was babysitting the toddler says it was her mom's first time babysitting the child as a favor for a family friend.

Somehow the little boy was able to get outside and into the swimming pool. Police say there was no lock on the fence surrounding the pool.

"While you have a fence around your pool, try and keep a lock on your gate as well. That will be a big deterrent. If you have children in your home, I always recommend that you have your doors locked on the inside when their kids are in the house and put a lock at the top, like a chain lock at the top of the door so that the kids can't reach the top and if they're able to get the door hand unlocked, they can't get the door all the way open," Lieutenant Regina Duckett said.

Police say this is the fifth drowning death in six months, four of which have been kids. They're urging adults to be more vigilent, making sure there eyes are on kids in their care.

Officers are also encouraging parents and caregivers to educate kids on pool safety and safety in general.

Police are ruling this latest drowning as accidental.
