The Montgomery County School Board met before Tuesday night's education forum. During the meeting board members made some significant decisions about school system property.

The board agreed to buy the old Parisian Department store building at Montgomery Mall. Their plan is to move the Applied Technology High School into the space.

The board also voted to transfer the vacant Patterson Elementary School building to the city. In exchange, the city will demolish three other unused school buildings: the old Bellingrath School, Daisy Lawrence Elementary School and McMillian International Academy. Superintendent Barbara Thompson say this will leave the system will land which is more valuable and easier to sell and do other things with.

The system is getting the Parisian building at a very low cost. Board members say it is essentially a donation. Documentation revealing the exact amount has not been released.
