'Boobing' craze hits Hartselle

HARTSELLE, AL (WAFF) -

If you live in Hartselle and you wake up to a bra on your doorstep, don't be alarmed. A couple of boys probably put it there, and no, it's not some kind of joke.

It's actually a way to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

A few women went to an auction for the American Cancer Society, where they won a bunch of decorated bras. When they got home, they had no idea what to do with all of them, so they came up with the idea of "boobing."

The idea is to leave a bra on a doorstep with a note explaining what to do next. All you have to do is sign your name of the inside of the bra with a $10 donation and leave the name of the person you would like to "boob it forward" to.

But the women needed a group of people willing and ready to sneak around and put the bras on unsuspecting doorsteps.

That's where the H-Town Boys come in. They are a group of 10-12 year old boys who started the group as a Relay For Life team a couple of years ago.

All of the boys have been touched by cancer in one way or another. That's why they don't mind dressing up and sneaking around in the middle of the night, putting bras on people's doorsteps. Well, that and the fact that they get to dress up and sneak around and put bras on people's doorsteps.

There are about 20 bras in circulation. The boys spend most of their nights picking bras up and "boobing" more houses. There is one special bra though, the survivor bra. It can only be "boobed forward" to another breast cancer survivor.

"Boobing"  is now the talk of the town and everyone wants in, but it's only going to last until October 31.

The H-Town Boys have already raised over $600 dollars for the American Cancer Society.  If you want to donate, you can head over the group's Facebook page. You can find it by typing "I've been boobed" in the search portion.
