Prattville High School band member Hayden Nelson is headed to San Antonio, Texas where he'll have the honor of playing in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Marching Band.

Nelson learned of his selection Thursday. He'll be among an elite group of musicians who will perform during the halftime show at the Alamodome.

"The U.S. Army has a distinguished musical history," said John Myers, Director of Marketing, Army Marketing and Research Group. " The skills and strengths necessary to be a successful band member are mirrored in Army Strong Soldiers."

The top 125 high school senior marching musicians and color guard members from across America are selected for the honor.

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl will air on NBC on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 1:00pm EST.

Hayden will be joined in San Antonio by fellow Prattville Lion Austin Golson. Golson is one of 90 top high school players selected to play in the game.
