BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -
The Magic City Classic celebration is underway, but one of the highlights of the weekend will no longer be happening.
Officials at the BJCC say The Magic Before the Classic has been canceled by the promoter. The pre-battle of the bands event was supposed to happen tonight, but was called off because of low ticket sales. Those who did purchase tickets can get refunds at the purchase locations.
There are plenty of other events still going on. Last night, a pep rally was held for A&M and ASU fans at the B&A Warehouse. The rally sets the tone for the classic weekend.
Alumni say this is a time for fans from both teams to come together and temporarily put the rivalry aside.
"Enjoyment, collaboration, seeing people being here is just awesome," said one A&M alum.
"Everyone coming together… doesn't matter A&M or ASU love the atmosphere of it," said Angela Watkins, an ASU alum.
