PENSACOLA, FL (WTVM) -
Florida authorities have charged 31-year-old twin brothers on Friday with murdering a former Pensacola newspaper reporter whose body was found encased in a concrete slab in Georgia. They may also face armed robbery charges.
Investigators say Christopher and William Cormier were 30-year-old Sean Dugas' house guests in Pensacola, Florida before they allegedly killed the news reporter on August 27, 2012 and stole his belongings.
Among the stolen items were a collection of cards for the game "Magic: The Gathering" which are valued at about $100,000. Police say the cards were sold in Pensacola, Tennessee and Georgia. Friends say Dugas and the twins met at a Pensacola comic store, where they played the game and bought and sold game cards.
Georgia investigators found Dugas' plastic and concrete-encased body in the backyard of the twins' fathers' home in Winder, Georgia after searching for about a week. A friend reported Dugas missing in early September after he missed a lunch meeting.
An autopsy later revealed that he died from blunt force trauma.
The Cormiers are currently in jail in Georgia, but Florida authorities say they will be extradited to Pensacola. They have not given a date for the extradition. Murder charges and concealing a death charges against them are still pending in Barrow County.
