COLUMBIA, SC (AP) - South Carolina's non-conference football games
next year include a season opener against North Carolina and a first-ever
matchup with state Football Championship Subdivision program Coastal Carolina.
The Gamecocks also head to Central Florida and close the year with their
annual contest against rival Clemson. South Carolina announced the
non-conference opponents Wednesday. It had earlier released its Southeastern
Conference schedule.
The 2013 season starts at Williams-Brice Stadium on Aug. 31st against the
Tar Heels, a team South Carolina has not hosted since 1990. After games with
Georgia and Vanderbilt, the Gamecocks play at Central Florida on Sept. 28th.
South Carolina plays six straight SEC games after that before closing out
the season at home against Coastal Carolina on Nov. 23rd and Clemson on Nov.
30th.
