PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) - Highway 82 in Prattville is now clear after being closed yesterday afternoon due a log truck accident.
In a tweet yesterday, the city stated that Hwy. 82 was closed between the Doster Road Cutoff and Hwy. 31.
Witnesses reported a medical helicopter landed at the scene.
Alabama State Troopers say the truck, which was not hauling cargo at the time of the accident, was heading eastbound on Hwy. 82 when it ran off of a ravine.
The driver had to be extricated from the cab of the truck. He was flown to Baptist South with possibly life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the truck has been identified as 54-year-old William Sykes of Salem, AL.
