From the Tyler City Attorney Gary Landers:
This afternoon the City received a letter which says it is a courtesy notice that Tyler attorney Mathew Thigpen will file a lawsuit next Monday morning seeking a Temporary Restraining Order involving the elections in JP #2. The letter is unclear exactly what he intends to do and if the City is directly involved. We have exchanged emails with him in which he says he intends to include the City in the legal action. Until I get a copy of the actual lawsuit and the City is served, I cannot tell you more about it. The city continues to be very confident that we demonstrated due diligence and accuracy in the processing of the petitions and upheld our legal obligation to call the election and allow the citizens to exercise their right to vote based upon our findings.
