There are an estimated 27 million slaves in the world today.
The Auburn University chapter of the International Justice Mission will host "Stand for Freedom," a 27-hour stand in honor of those 27 million slaves Wednesday November 7.
Beginning at 8 a.m., students signed up for hour-long time slots will stand throughout AU's campus to raise awareness until 11 a.m. the next morning.
From 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. students will stand on Auburn University's main concourse and then move to the Green Space where there will be a documentary showing about modern- day slavery starting at 6 p.m.
At 8:30 p.m. students will move to Toomer's Corner where they will stand all night. Coffee and snacks will be available during this time. To finish the stand, students will move back to the concourse at 7 a.m. where they will remain until 11 a.m.
