MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Martha Roby has won re-election as Representative for Alabama's 2nd District.  With 99% of the precincts reporting, Roby had 64% of the vote to 36% of the vote for Therese Ford, Roby's Democratic challenger.

Roby celebrated with supporters at the Montgomery County Republican Headquarters on Vaughn Road in Montgomery.  Roby thanked the crown for their support.  She also spoke of the need for more action in Washington and less gridlock.

"This name calling, it doesn't get anybody anywhere," Rep. Roby said.  "We've got to find the common ground, without compromising our core principles and beliefs.  And we've got to propel this country in the right direction, and that's not happening now."

Roby said constituent service will continue to be a focus. The comfortable margin for Roby was in contrast to the closely fought race against for Rep. Bobby Bright, who Roby unseated in 2010.  Heavily Democratic areas such as Lowndes County and Western Montgomery County were moved to the 7th District.
