BLOUNT COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -
Blount County officials have reported that the county will remain dry after a special election to approve alcohol sales was defeated.
According to the county's website, 50.4 percent of voters said 'no' to alcohol sales. The vote comes after a controversial campaign to even have such a vote put on the ballot. Some voters claimed that they were fraudulently added to the petition calling for a wet/dry referendum vote.
Several Blount County residents took to Twitter to voice their displeasure at the results. User @swade_711 tweeted: There goes our money towards our county. User @evanreid echoed that sentiment, saying "...people its not about alcohol but growth, economic gain, and a better infrastructure!"
