A judge has scheduled a sentencing hearing early next year for an Etowah County man who pleaded guilty to murdering his mother.
Prosecutors on Tuesday said 33-year-old Justin Blaine Denson of Gadsden admitted to killing Nita Gay Denson in December 2009.
He was arrested in Tennessee the next month after investigators followed a trail of purchases made with his mother's credit and debit cards. Denson also pleaded guilty to fraudulently using his mother's cards.
Authorities say an investigation showed Denson and his mother had been arguing about money before her slaying.
Denson's sentencing is set for Jan. 10. He will receive 119 years imprisonment in a plea deal with prosecutors.
