CLANTON, AL (WSFA) -
The Alabama Department of Public Health has canceled a hearing that would have determined whether the Chilton Medical Center's license should be revoked. The hearing had been set for Thursday, November 8, 2012.
ADPH said the hearing was canceled because it settled the matter by way of a consent agreement with the entity that holds the Chilton County hospital's license to operate, Clanton Hospital, LLC.
The hospital will remain closed, according to ADPH, but its license will remain effective until December 21, 2012. That allows for another person or entity to submit an application for licensure to operate the hospital.
The hospital was forced to cease all operations on October 29 through an emergency order of the State of Alabama. The facility was found to have insufficient funds for the issuance of payroll checks to its employees.
Patients were discharged a short time after the order was put in place.
