Two men arrested in connection with the beating Friday of a well-known gay activist, DJ and star of a Logo network documentary and his friend face aggravated assault charges.
Jermon Barnes, 22, and Ernie Barnes, 24, were arrested after the assault near Central Avenue and Osborn Road in Phoenix.
Police said Austin Head and a friend left Charlie's Men's Country Bar about 2 a.m. Friday when they were approached by two men who allegedly yelled homophobic slurs before assaulting the victims.
Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Steve Martos said the incident is being classified as a hate crime.
No other information was immediately available.
