EMA planning test of emergency siren system THURSDAY at Farley Nuclear Plant

Posted: Updated:
DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) -

The Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant, in cooperation with state and local emergency management agencies, will conduct a test of the plant's new emergency siren system to comply with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) regulations and to ensure residents are promptly notified in the event of an emergency.

The test will consist of the entire siren system being set off throughout the 10-mile emergency planning zone surrounding Plant Farley.  This includes portions of Henry and Houston Counties in Alabama and Early County in Georgia.  The test will ensure that the siren system is tested thoroughly and completely before it is used for public notifications.  As part of this test, the sirens will be heard by nearby residents and businesses.

The test will be conducted on Thursday, November 15, 2012 between 1:00pm and 1:30pm.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Henry County Emergency Management Office at 334-585-6702.
