CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Democrat John Cranley has announced that he is running for Mayor of Cincinnati.

Cincinnati residents will elect a new mayor in 2013, when current Mayor Mark Mallory's two-term limit expires. Cranley, 38, is a small businessman, lawyer, civic leader and former member of city council.

"I will bring fresh energy and new ideas to the Mayor's office," said Cranley. "I will listen to voices from every neighborhood and together we will jumpstart our economy and build a Cincinnati that is greater than the one I grew up in and stronger than the city we live in today."

Cranley is graduate of St. Xavier High School and John Carroll University and Harvard's schools of Law and Divinity. He is co-founder of the Ohio Innocence Project at the University of Cincinnati College of Law, a member of the Incline Village, LLC and a lawyer at Keating, Muething and Klekamp, PLL.

He lives in Cincinnati with his wife, Dana, and son, Joseph. He plans to officially launch his campaign in January.
