SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -
A bomb threat phoned in by the desk clerk of a Scottsdale hotel on Tuesday turned out to be a hoax, police said.
Wade Radzinski, 25, a desk clerk at the Holiday Inn Express at 7350 E. Gold Dust, called police dispatchers around 9:30 p.m.
Radzinski told officers that he was told to put cash in a bag and leave it outside for the would-be thief or a bomb would be detonated, police said. Radzinski said he complied.
Officers trying to determine if the threat was legitimate asked Radzinski if they could search his car. Police said they found the amount of cash that was missing from the hotel inside the vehicle.
Police said Radzinski then made statements incriminating himself and also told officers that the bomb threat was a hoax. Radzinski was booked into jail on charges of theft and false reporting.
