#1 Darton cruises into semifinals

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The #1 ranked Darton College soccer team gets an early goal from Jowayne Laidley and then holds on for 3-0 win over Western Texas at the NJCAA Division I soccer tournament at the Cavalier Soccer Complex.

The win sends Darton into the semifinals.

After Laidley scored his first goal, Andrew Palumbo added two more in the second half.

Palumbo's second goal came in the final minute of the match.

Head coach Bart Sasnett is happy with the win but knows his team cannot afford to continue to miss scoring chances this weekend in the semifinals and if they make it the championship match.

Darton will play in the semifinals at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

"The goal early was big for us. We kind of kept building off of it. We had lots of chances and again we are not putting away all of our chances but we are putting away enough to win", said. head coach Bart Sasnett.

"We have just got to work on finishing more in training. Hopefully all of these chances will be put away in the semifinals", said sophomore forward Jowayne Laidley.

The NJCAA championship match is 2:00 p.m. Saturday.
