    In my editorial on Tuesday I chided our legislators for being the last state to pass a no-brainer  bill legalizing home brewing.  Today I want to challenge them to be one of the first states to pass another no-brainer;

    Kudos, or perhaps, cheers to the Alabama Legislature for passing HB9, the home brewing bill. Legalized home brewing may not be up there with education reform or prison funding, but it was overdue.

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Our "National Disgrace" editorial focusing on the homeless situation with U.S. military veterans prompted a number of responses on wsfa.com and on our station's Facebook page.

The first comes from Deanna with a brief but a pointed response, "They took care of us; why aren't we taking care of them?"

Kim responded, "Maybe if our government took better care of our veterans than they do people that sit on their behinds and collect welfare checks our country would be in a different state... "

Matt added, "Yep, let's give money to all the people on welfare and drug addicts and let our veterans go cold and homeless…thank God we live in America, right?"

However, not all the responses felt that veterans returned home without support andMettie writes, "The Veterans Administration took wonderful care of my father (following his return from Vietnam) … at the VA in Tuscaloosa they have floors dedicated solely to homeless veterans. They stay there while the VA staff helps them find work … I have nothing but positive things to say."

As always, we encourage and appreciate your feedback.
