After losing in the state semifinals last season, Deerfield-Windsor head coach Allen Lowe is counting on his team to be hungry this thanksgiving week to get back to next week's GISA AAA state championship game.
The coach likely won't need a big motivational speech to get his team fired up for Friday's semifinal battle with Stratford.
That is because Stratford ended Deerfield-Windsor's bid for back to back state titles by beating the Knights in last year's semifinals.
The two teams played earlier this season in Albany where Deerfield-Windsor won a shootout.
Coach Allen Lowe knows that Stratford is a much better football team than they were in the regular season game and will likely go back to last year's winning game plan with hopes of denying Deerfield-Windsor the chance to play for a state championship for a third time in four years.
"They want to control the chains. Keep the clock running. They know we have got a little better speed advantage. they are going to try to pound us. Last year they were able to do it. We can't let them do it", said head coach Allen Lowe.
Deerfield-Windsor is in the GISA AAA semifinals for a sixth straight year.
Game time is 7:30 p.m. Friday and you can watch highlights Friday at 11:00 p.m. in the Locker Room on WALB News 10.
