SHORTER, AL (WSFA) -

The Macon County Sheriff's office says a death investigation is under way after a body was found Friday.

The remains were found by people walking along County Road 20 near Shorter.

Details are very limited at this time, but Sheriff David Warren says his office does not currently suspect any foul play.

Still, the Department of Forensic Sciences continues to look into the case.

The Sheriff's office has not identified the person, nor can they confirm how the individual died.

WSFA 12 News will have more information as it becomes available.
