A couple of Valley organizations have teamed up to turn Black Friday into a day of giving.
Dozens of off-duty Phoenix firefighters gathered at one of the Valley's busiest Fry's locations to kick off the 2012 Red Kettle campaign. Together with the Salvation Army, Fry's Food and Drug and the United Phoenix Fire Fighter's Association, they hope to make an impact this holiday season.
Olin Hogan of the Salvation Army said, "You know they do so much for the community. Not only do they save lives but they commit themselves to help the community in any way they can, so we're so grateful that they are out there to help the Salvation Army."
In the past 10 years the event has helped to raise more than $50,000.
