The Alabama football team practiced for 90 minutes in shells on Thursday inside the Hank Crisp Indoor Practice Facility as they made final preparations for Saturday's SEC Championship Game against No. 3 Georgia.
The No. 2 Crimson Tide (11-1, 7-1) is playing their eighth SEC Championship Game and their first since winning the school's 22nd SEC Championship in 2009. Alabama and Georgia (11-1, 7-1) are meeting for the first time in the SEC Championship Game. The Crimson Tide lead the series 36-25-4 and won the team's last meeting, 41-30, in Athens in 2008.
The two teams feature elite defenses, but the two quarterbacks will have a big say in the outcome of Saturday's game. Georgia junior Aaron Murray and Alabama junior quarterback AJ McCarron are ranked first and second nationally in passing efficiency. Murray boasts a 177.2 quarterback rating while McCarron is close behind at 176.3. McCarron has a school-record 25 passing touchdowns and a 7-2 career record against top-25 teams, including a 3-1 mark vs. the top 10.
The SEC Championship Game will be televised on CBS and is slated to kickoff at 3 p.m. (CST) from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson will call the action with Tracy Wolfson reporting from the sidelines.
