An East Texas man was sentenced to 10 years in prison Thursday following a June accident that left one person seriously injured.
According to Smith County records, 25-year-old Lawrence Woodham was sentenced to 10 years after pleading guilty to charges of intoxication assault with a vehicle.
On June 13th, Woodham crashed his truck into a car driven by Casey Patterson at the intersection of Troup Highway and S. Loop 323 in Tyler. Patterson was transported to the hospital in critical condition, but was later treated and released. Woodham suffered minor injuries.
Upon further investigation, officials determined that Patterson was making a legal left turn when the accident happened, and that a large Smirnoff bottle was removed from Woodham's truck.
