LIVONIA, LA (WAFB) -
A hunting accident in Livonia left a teen with serious injuries in the hospital.
Friends say Brandt Torres was shot in the head Saturday morning when he was duck-hunting with friends.
More than 100 classmates, friends and community members gathered at Livonia High School to support and pray for Brandt's recovery.
Those in attendance say the community support is a testament to the close-knit dynamic in Livonia.
"I thought I'd come here and see no more than 20 people and the whole community looks like it's come out," said Freddie Rodrigue, Faith Baptist Church Pastor.
"This event was just put on the last couple of hours and outstanding turnout and we believe in the power of prayer and I'm confident everything is going to be okay," said Chief Brad Joffrion of the Livonia Police Department.
Brandt's immediate family said doctors believe he has already shown rapid signs of recovery.
