ANDERSON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -
Lieutenant Elton Sims, 39, of the Gurney Unit in Anderson County was arrested over the weekend for firing at least one shot at his wife.
According to TDCJ Spokesperson Jason Clark, a 911 call was made at state employee housing near the Beto Unit in Anderson County around 3:30 a.m. December 2nd.
The call stated there was a situation at employee housing involving a domestic disturbance between a husband and wife.
According to authorities, Sims pulled a gun on his wife and fired at least one shot. They did not hit the woman and Deputies with Anderson County SO along with unit officials responded to the property.
Sims' wife told authorities he destroyed the phone she tried to call 911 on. According to Sheriff Taylor, Sims' had reportedly been drinking.
TDCJ employees had talked him into coming peacefully by the time Anderson County Sheriff's Department arrived on scene.
Sims has been charged with aggravated
assault with deadly weapon, Deadly
conduct and Interference
with emergency call.
Sims has been employed with TDCJ for 182 months and his employment with TDCJ is pending the outcome of the investigation and he is unable to come on to state property for the time being.
