TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

A court document obtained by FOX6 News shows that a former University of Alabama student has been charged with stalking and making terroristic threats against school officials.

Zachary Burrell, 28, was arrested Nov. 30 and is being held on a $500,000 bond. An assistant to UA President Judy Bonner says that he was a Ph.D. candidate in physics and was suspended from the school in late October for "alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct." The court document says that after his dismissal, Burrell returned to campus and was subsequently banned.

The court document says that between Nov. 5 and Nov. 28, 2012, Burrell sent "a large number of emails" to Todd Borst, head of judicial affairs, Judy Bonner, the university president, Tim Hebson, who works in the Office of Student affairs and others.

These emails allegedly did not contain direct threats or threats to the general campus but there were "underlying threats" and "inferences" to two violent movies. Burrell allegedly attached the trailer of one of those films, "Dark Matter," to one email. In the movie, a doctoral student's work is derailed by a professor and his life falls apart. The character eventually takes a weapon to his campus.

According to the document, in one email Burrell says "that he will ‘repay' the University for ruining his life, even if it his dying deed."
