BREAUX BRIDGE, LA (WAFB) -
Louisiana State Police are investigating shooting involving a Breaux Bridge police officer and a 17-year-old girl.
Just after 7:30 p.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Landry Street in Breaux Bridge, LA for the report of a disturbance. As the Officers were arriving on the scene, 17-year-old Darnesha Harris of Breaux Bridge, was driving a 2005 Toyota
Corolla toward their vehicle.
Harris struck the front of the Officers unit with
the vehicle she was driving, then she placed the vehicle in reverse and struck
a parked car on the roadway.
After hitting the parked car, Harris drove forward,
traveled through a ditch, struck a bystander and a parked car in a driveway.
One of the responding Officers got out of his vehicle and shot Harris. Harris was taken to a local hospital where she later
died as a result of her injuries.
The bystander was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
