7 Montgomery students charged in bus altercation

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Officer with the Montgomery Police Department were called to a report of an altercation on a school bus at around 7 a.m. Monday.

According to authorities, the bus driver stopped the bus at the Troy Highway and Eastern Boulevard due to the altercation involving a number of teenaged, female students.

One student, who had a can of mace, was charged with illegal possession of a weapon on school grounds.

A second student was charged with criminal use of a noxious substance after the mace was deployed. 

Five additional students were charged with disorderly conduct.

Montgomery Public Schools spokeswoman Mona Davis said that when the driver stopped the bus to deal with the situation, a motorist bumped the bus, but Davis said there were no injuries.
