PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) -
It's been a month since Phenix City swore in their first African American mayor, Eddie Lowe.
He spent the day in a city council meeting, where he says that transparency and feedback from the community is what is most important to him.
He told News Leader 9 one of the biggest issues he faces is that everyone is still green on the council, and is still learning. Despite only being mayor for a month, Lowe said he has a great team and they work well together.
"One of the things we talk about a lot on this council is following the process. If you follow the process you should have less headaches, and that's what we want. And it's all about inclusion, it's all about engaging people and it's all about being transparent," said Mayor Lowe.
Lowe wants to hold more meetings in order to give citizens more opportunities to come and have their voices heard.
These meetings would be held at 6:00 p.m. to accommodate those who do not get off work until 5:00 p.m.
