DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) -
Authorities
believe a teen was driving too fast when he lost control and crashed Monday morning.
The
Louisiana State Police said Brice Harris, 18, of Denham Springs died in the
wreck.
The
accident happened on LA 1032 (4-H Club Road) south of LA 1034 (Vincent Road) in
Denham Springs around 7 a.m.
Troopers
said their preliminary investigation showed Harris lost control of the 2003
Ford F-250 he was driving in a curve and went off the road.
They reported
the truck went through a ditch and slammed into a tree.
Investigators
said the teen was not wearing a seatbelt.
He was
pronounced dead at the scene.
According
to troopers, excessive speed is considered a factor in the deadly crash. They
don't yet know if there were other factors.
A sample of
the driver's blood was submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for
toxicology analysis.
