(FOX19) -
FOX19 stopped at Kroger for the 'Food from the Heart' campaign on Monday.
FOX19 teamed up with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and Kroger to continue the annual event.
So far, 39,000 pounds of food has been collected. However, that number is still 30,000 short of this year's goal.
Over one million pounds of food, or over 400,000 meals, have been collected and distributed to local families in need.
'Food for the Heart' campaign kicked off on November 8th, and will run through December 31st.
Those interested in participating can donate non-perishable items to all Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Kroger locations. Cash donations to support St. Vincent de Paul can also be made at checkout coin boxes in participating Kroger stores.
The items collected are delivered to families by St. Vincent de Paul volunteers in neighborhoods across the tri-state throughout the holiday season.
