KILGORE, TX (KLTV) -
An East Texas fire department employee has resigned after police say they discovered marijuana in a home she owned.
Kilgore Police say they found nearly a pound of marijuana at the home of Monica Hanks, a longtime Longview Fire Department civilian fire inspector.
Kilgore Police say during a traffic stop, they received a tip about drugs allegedly being at Hanks' home. After getting permission to search the home, officers say they found about a pound of marijuana and other paraphernalia.
22-year-old Eric King, who was in the house when officers arrived, was arrested for possession of marijuana and evading arrest. King, a family friend, admitted that all the drugs and paraphernalia in the house were his.
Hanks has not been charged with a crime because it appears she did not know the drugs were in the house.
