BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -
For two days in a row this weekend, officials at Birmingham's St. Vincent's Hospital called a "Code Silver," an alert meaning that someone inside the hospital may be possessing some kind of a weapon.
Saturday, 38-year-old Jason Letts of Jemison was shot and killed by a Birmingham Police officer.
Sunday, a man told hospital staff that he wanted to visit Letts' widow.
Sgt. Johnny Williams with the Birmingham Police Department tells FOX6 News that when the man was told he was not on a list of people allowed to visit Letts' widow, he became irate and left the hospital but did not return. Police say the person was never armed.
Police swept every floor of the hospital as a precaution. The hospital is no longer on security alert.
