Homewood police continue to investigate a triple slaying involving a mother and her two young sons.

Police said in a news release Saturday that they received a call at about noon Friday from a man who said he'd returned home from work and found his wife and their two young sons dead at their apartment. Authorities on Saturday identified the slain woman as 30-year-old Araceli Juarez-Montero. The names of the boys, ages 4 and 5, have not been released.

Homewood police Sgt. Andrew Didcoct said Saturday evening that authorities were awaiting the results of an autopsy report to determine the causes of death.

He said the man, Hugo Juarez, is being held in protective custody.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the Homewood police at 205-332-6224 or Crimestoppers at 205-254-7777.
