PELHAM, AL (WBRC) -
Pelham Police say a man wanted on several felony charges barricaded himself in someone else's attic before officers took him into custody this afternoon. No one was injured in the process.
The incident began just after noon Monday when the Homewood Police Department requested help from Pelham police patrols in serving a warrant. Officers went to the Cottage Circle neighborhood in Pelham to serve the warrant around 12:15 p.m. The area is just off of Highway 261.
When police arrived to the scene, the suspect barricaded himself in his townhome's attic, according to a release from the Pelham Police Department. The townhomes are comprised of six apartment units all connected under the same roof.
"The individual made his way into two additional units using the common space of the attic and was eventually taken into custody in the second unit he occupied," Pelham Police said.
Authorities are waiting to obtain federal warrants before releasing the suspect's name and charges. Police say the investigation is ongoing, and "multiple" felony charges are pending.
